Contact the company that no longer exists? This will be interesting.

At least we know that up to this point, there have been no incidents with these seats reported... with 1700 rigs over 6 years.

Yes, very strange indeed. Wonder if anyone picks up at the phone number given, and if so, what will they offer to correct the problem?

Roadtrek/Hymer, the gift that keeps on giving. Although this problem originated before Hymer got involved.

"May not have enough strength..." What does that really mean? Instead of panicking everyone, why don't they now test one and get it over with. There is no company now responsible to render a solution.

EHGNA under receivership is still theoretically responsible for the problem. The receiver did have a pull test done and the installation failed that test. Whether there is any way to pay for fixing the problems is a different story ...

Do you know for a fact they had a test done or is paper work just coming up that they didn't? "May" is a wishy wash word implying they don't know. Again, how does one repair? Since there is no company that also means each and every one will have to have their own test and solution.

I think I wouldn't worry about it if I was a solo user or a couple occupying cab seats underway. Criminy, upfitters put lap belts on side sofas and ottomans. You think those are legal? I admit I don't know motorhome laws but I think we all have a passenger get up and and grab a drink out of the fridge or snack in the cabinet or close a cabinet door that pops open.

That is what the receiver stated in their report to the court. Apparently the test results came after the vehicles were already excluded from warranty in the Rapido deal.

I am certain it is safer in an accident to be belted in one of those seats than wandering around the vehicle.

The government needs to officially tests the vehicles, not the receiver. That's why the "may." Roadtrek since 2011 when the alleged cut corners ownership took over seems to me to be a tarnished brand leaving the owner's holding the bag.

How do you know whether they will be safer seated in those seats? Do you feel any safer in a seat with a recalled air bag?

Because the danger of the seats is that they won't hold in accident that puts sufficient force on them. Someone with no restraint is going to be flying until they hit an object that stops them with at least that same force. The seat may not hold, but it will certainly slow them down a lot.

The receiver had the installation tested by an independent testing company, just like the original installation, that was not used, was tested. If Roadtrek were still in business there would be a recall. I don't know how that will work now. I also don't know what my legal liability "may" be if someone is hurt when a seat pulls free in an accident.

I'd say you have a problem. Since you know about it, it is on you, you pull the seats, not let anyone ride in them or pay to correct them with mucho bucks maybe not worth it. No one else is going to unless you want a protracted long never ending lawsuit probably with no satisfaction.

Here is what my notice said on the seat issue. It says once a remedy is available I will receive another notice. Latest Roadtrek web site lists several models subject to this issue. Seems logical to me that they will have to fix this before selling them. The fix might be available for prior owners at their own cost. IMG_0003.jpgIMG_0004.jpgIMG_0005.jpg

In an interview, the Rapido exec responsible for Roadtrek said they were working on retrofit but it still needed to be tested.

The fix *may* be as simple as drilling a couple of holes in the brackets and frame and adding some lag bolts to beef up the anchorage. As Davydd suggested, don't let anyone use them, until someone figures out the next move to correct the problem.
