Default Converted ambulance to take couple to South America

Converted ambulance to take couple to South America. Nicknamed Rambo.

I saw this story on CBC news: http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/newfoundl ... -1.2784551

Quote:
Robbie and Kristen Hickey converted an old ambulance into a camper van, and will be spending the next eight months driving to the most southern point in the Americas.
Quote:
They'll be driving southwest through the U.S., crossing into Mexico through Texas and driving all the way to Panama.

From there, the van will be shipped to Colombia, where the Hickeys will fly to meet it and pick up their driving adventure to Ushuaia, the most southern city in the world, before heading back home.
here's another link to the story: http://www.cbc.ca/m/touch/offbeat/story/1.2784551

They nicknamed the van Rambo.

1 ton 4x4 diesel van
12v Fridge/freezer
2 x 100watt solar panels, 2 house batteries, inverter

Looks comfy inside

I wonder what sorts of tools they're taking with them? Some basics for changing tires and belts and hoses would be a must as well as some of the aforementioned spare parts.
I don't think AAA or Good Sam cover those areas of the world. Maybe there are other international roadside emergency assistance companies out there?
