Default 120 volt engine generator

Just saw this. Would this engine mounted generator with the existing battery charger better handle the high charging loads of lithium batteries?

I think something like this was brought up before, but not certain, maybe someone remembers.

Obesrvances:

Rpm range 1200-1500 engine. If this is non inverter, which is likely, that is a 20% variation in frequency. OK for resistive stuff, but not a lot of other things. Motors run fast or slow.

Voltage regulator "optional"?

Unknown how to handle 120v under the hood in heat and vibration, might be safety hazard if shorts to chassis or other electronics.

If it was a good, clean power, run any rpm inverter generator, then I think it might have some good promise.

You may be thinking of the thread I started awhile ago on axial flux generators:

http://www.classbforum.com/forums/f2...tors-7719.html

That is a far more sophisticated technology than what this appears to be. I suspect that these are intended to drive specific kinds of loads on heavy equipment, such as hydraulic pumps, winches, etc. You are right that any significant frequency variation would be a non-starter in an RV.
