But the lower section was not cold at all.
I do not ever use the fridge,so I was wondering if it had issues.
The one time before that I had tried it. It was running from shore power. And was really cold over night.
So I am assuming that the 12 volt is not as efficient as shore power.
Also tried the gas once too. It was cold overnight.
Iwill probably switch over to a compressor fridge. My solar and batteries can run it easily. And shore power and generator are always an option.
Any body ever pull one of these things out? Looks like it will be harder and more painful than pulling teeth!
Thanks to everyone for their replys.
This site is a great place to find answer from people who understand what we are trying achieve with our "tiny homes"
Thanks again

Just a few notes:

Old fridges in our vans were likely mechanical control not electronic.

An indoor/outdoor wireless thermometer with the outdoor part placed in the fridge will show you the temperature and take the guessing / feel out of determining if it is cold enough.

The dollar bill test will determine if the fridge gasket needs replacing.

Quote:
A simple method to check gaskets is to close the door on a dollar bill, then pull the dollar bill out. If no resistance is felt, the gasket in that place is not sealing properly. This should be done on all four sides of the door in several places. If a gasket is not sealing properly, warm the gasket material with a hair dryer. Then close the door and the magnetic strip should pull the gasket to the metal frame. Leave door closed until the material has cooled. Then recheck for a positive seal. If a positive seal cannot be achieved, replace the door gasket.

Iam thinking of doing the same....replacing with comp.fridge.
Looks to be a chore to remove the old unit?
Let me know how you make out .
Thank you
Eddie

We just finished our Vitrifrigo installation yesterday and are continuing to run battery and temperature tests today. So far, knock wood, I'm pleased. Yes, the job involved re-jiggering the cabinetry, but the fridge we chose had a really nice black metal face plate, so if it were necessary, one could get away with a lot of unsophisticated woodwork behind there and it would never show because the face plate would cover it.

As a bonus, I got a little storage slot on the left side of it for one of my Rumpl blankets. Blanket storage is a major pain in any Class B, so this is a helpful. The blanket also helps to muffle the noise of the Danfoss compressor. They are said to be "silent" in some forum discussions, but they are really not.

REPLACING THE FRIDGE IN AN AIRSTREAM INTERSTATE **AGAIN**!

Nice.
I am going to remove the 3way from my RT.
Replace with a fridge / freezer.
Should be able to run off solar and battery bank. And generator too.
Thanks for the pic.
