Default Need to wire '06 Sprinter for small utility trailer?

My '06 T1N Sprinter does not have a trailer wiring package, so I need to start from scratch. I do not need to hook up trailer brakes, only lights. Can I simply splice into the existing taillight wiring? If not, where do I start the wiring. I'm looking for an inexpensive solution.

Thanks, Rick

Yes you can splice into the existing taillight wiring.

Actually, you don't need to "splice" per se.

You can get the Y-cable (with sockets) specially made for trailer lights.
You simply plug-and-play.

Call your local trailer dealer/installer; they should have that Y-cable.

Just to clarify my question with your response, " I need to connect my Sprinter's tail lights to the connector on the trailer and my Sprinter has no pre-wiring for a trailer. Are you saying there is a Y connector that will just plug into the tail lights of my Sprinter?

Rick

That is correct.

If your trailer installer do not have it in stock,
they can splice one up for you on the sport.

I can't help with any specific Sprinter info.

For my GM van I bought a Curt T-Connector. - http://www.classbforum.com/forums/f8...html#post35705 - It was specific to the make, model, year etc. for my van. The little converter box (part of the kit) has some current limiting functions.

The kit had plug/socket combos that you inserted inline on the van taillight wiring. There was no cutting or splicing etc. The end result was a 4-way flat connector at the rear of the van.
