Default What's this switch for?

I've now had my RV for several years and never asked what this switch is for. Obviously for the fridge, but when/if to use it?

Guessing here... The previous owner installed a fan to draw air past the refrigerator's evaporator to improve the refrigerator's performance.

Seems like a reasonable guess rv guy, or original switch since we no nothing about the rv. Also seems there is little doubt about the function you cited.

Probably more likely to find the fan on the condenser and absorber than on the evaporater, although some have fans there also (often battery powered inside the frig.

I would concur that it is for a fan to assist with cooling in very high temperatures or when the fridge is loaded and has poor air flow. The fan can be mounted behind the fridge to assist in heat transfer or inside the fridge to assist with a more even distribution of cool air or both. I have some DC computer fans inside and outside the fridge wired to a rocker switch like this for desert camping but don't use it when camping in the mountains.
