Alarm

I'm new to this forum (and also to Sprinters) and hope that I'm posting correctly (I couldn't find any existing posts when I searched covering alarms, if not, my apologies).

I'm in the process of purchasing a new Revel Sprinter van. I was told they don't come with installed car alarms so one has to buy one after-market and add it.

My first question is, do readers recommend alarms in Sprinters? If so, do you have a recommendation for type or make of alarm to add? If so, approximately how much should I expect it will cost to purchase and have it installed?

The details are probably out of date, but I don't think things have changed much. I have heard that the Viper people have been trying to make things difficult for self-installs. I do not know how successful they have been.

I installed DroneMobile alarm and like it very much. However, it draws a fair amount of power from the chassis battery. If you don’t drive the vehicle often, you can draw down your battery. I had a dead battery in 2 weeks. I subsequently use a 30 watt solar charger that I keep on the dash when storing the vehicle for more than a few days. I love the alarm though.
