Default Hello from Coastal South Carolina

New member looking for info on buying first RV. INterested primarily on reliability issues with Ford engines and transmissions - which seem to be one of the most used brand engines and transmissions out there.

Price range?

If you limit yourself to Fords, you eliminate a lot of the market. Nothing wrong with Dodge and Chevy though you can count a trans in most Dodge years somewhere short of 200,xxx miles.

My two bothers have mid-90's Dodges, one with a new trans at about 148, the other has 160 on original.

My '00 has 172k miles on the original, almost all of the last 50k pulling a 2,000 lb trailer, no issues. But I do watch the temps and have changed the oil over to Dexron VI.

The engines in all of the above are still stellar. Te\he Dodges with the 318, the Chevy has the 5.7(350).

All the above were bought used and maintained diligently at least since we purchased.

As always, YMMV.

Default I didn't know

Thanks for the reply. I didn't know Dodge and Chevy provided drive trains to the RV world. Learn something everyday. I'll be watchful as I look through the various RV makes. Thanks again.
