Default Hello from Northern CA

Just bought a 2018 Promaster 136 WB high top this last weekend, with the goal of slowly doing a DIY conversion. We're planning to go all the way and make it really nice, but will be taking our time and doing it bit by bit. Even though I won't have much time to work on it for the next 1.5 years (long story, but there is a clear change coming) we decided to go ahead and get it now since I travel a lot for work and was spending a lot of money on AirBnB and not really enjoying the experience of having to find a place every other week, having to find the place late at night, having to parallel park in sketchy neighborhoods and walk a few blocks, etc... I've already put 500 miles on my van and stayed in it a few nights and found it quite cozy, even without any conversion work yet.

Here's my 2 hours conversion that's working for me now, until Christmas break when I have time to start working on the vent and flooring: https://imgur.com/a/Kh6Fq1l

I hope to learn a lot from all of you here!

Congratulations on your purchase! Excellent choice from what I hear.

There is tons of info on this site to draw from. You can get even more info and examples of DIY conversions at the Sprinter forum at:

It's this one:

I did have to superglue the magnets back on already, but otherwise they're great.

Note that they're not 12v, just AAA powered lights.

I have a 2018 Carado Banff, which is built on a 2017 Dodge RAM Promaster 2500, which I assume is similar to what you bought. I'd suggest that you look at the Banff and the Roadtrek Simplicity SRT (also built on that chassis) for ideas on how to convert the Promaster into a class B RV. They have very different floor plans.

Congratulations on the new ProMaster. 2018 Winnebago Travato K owner here. What a hoot to drive with front wheel drive. Only suspension tweak was Sumo front and back. Scoots when you want it to and sips gas. Perfect stealth camper and mile eater if one has to make time and miles. The K model is the twin bed. We disabled the black tank and use PooPowder for toilet. Saves water and easy disposal of the yuk stuff. You will smile when you drive it (its that much fun!) makes others wonder about you! Enjoy it!

If you like simplistic you can eventually add on to look at https://wayfarervans.com. I toured Walter in June and was ready to move right in! (though we don't have a van yet...) It is a 4 hour install by traveling to Colorado Springs.
