1996 Roadtreck Rear Door Leak

I have a 1996 Roadtreck 190, it is the Dodge with single rear door (no spare) that is leaking at the top of the door. I suspect and have in hand a new door seal but am unable to find any direction on how to install. Anyone have any experience with this? The leak is more than a drip, it is steady drips all the way across the top, lots of water. I can see where the door seal is loose in the middle which is what makes me think this is the problem.

This door leak happens to many RVs of different makes.

You might not need to replace the seal,
but to add one at the door's edge.

You need to divert the water from the door before it gets into the opening.

FWIW, years ago, I met a Trekker from Canada, and he had the same type problem. He said he tried the gasket and it failed, so he had a piece of PVC Pipe that he had cut lengthwise and affixed it. It really wasn't noticeable, only to another Trekker, and he said he had it up for a few years and it did keep water out. Ron

Thanks! This advice was right on, I tried the Auto and Marine seal you mentioned and for $8 I had a fix instead of the $130 for a new door seal which I returned to the dealer.

I don’t have anymore info, but you might consider the 3M Dual Faced - the one they use for solar panels.

I would think 1-1.5” white PVC would do it.

Thank you so much for the quick response ,Ron !
While I will definitely use this pvc pipe rain diverter and get the gasket changed or reinforced,I noticed one more thing which could be the culprit.
On the top of the door close to the right hand corner there is a little latch(?) , and the above spot on the doorway is
scratched.Either it was another part of this latch or the worn mark was the result of tight closing.
(see pictures).
Now it is a little gap.If the door is sagging,it is not visible on outside.
Anyone had this issue?
I have Roadtrek 170 1997 in good shape with 41K original miles.

I remember there was a Group with the Dodges, believe it was Groups I.O or something like that. Maybe somebody here knows what I am referring to…they could provide the answer to the hole.

I had a similar kind of leak on my 1999 RT 170, but in my case the door seal has just started to degrade so I was able to take care of it by shoring up the seal with some Goop sealant. Its been fine for a few years now, but I imagine I will need a better solution at some point.

This problem does seem to come up regularly with older Dodge Roadtreks. I recall someone suggesting in previous threads that the weight of the spare tire might contribute to the problem (but the OP here said he doesn't have one).

Older 170s are definitely more rare than 190s. I guess Roadtrek never did make as many.

BTW, my RT does come with spare wheel on the back door.
I did not fix the priblem yet.Waiting for the drip rail from Amazon.It has sticky tape .But someone told me that the door got misaligned.It is very possible.The guy I talked to said to losen bolts, lift the door and tigten them back
Unfortunately,he is not available to fix it but I explained it to a friend who is willing to help.
It will be another couple of weeks.I will post the outcome.

I got drip rail placed above the top of the windiw and extra weather strip on the upper part of the doorway.That day it rained for 6 hours .So far so good.
I was told that the door does not need to be lifted.But as it was suggested on the other forum, aligning the door by moving it more in instead of up would have worked as that extra weather strip.
