Default '90 Leisure Van-charge camper battery

1990 Dodge Ram 250 Leisure van: The camper 12V battery is not set up to charge when I plug into house 120V. How could I modify that to have the battery charged when I plug into 120V? I want something that stops charging automatically when the battery is 100% charged. The battery is caged in a metal box under the floor, and it's a nuisance to open it up to hook up to a charger.

Does your B van have a converter? If so then maybe it is not connected or a fuse is blown somewhere. Also, some B's require that the battery disconnect is on (not in the disconnect position) for the charger to work.

Most RV's have a converter which supplies 12v when plugged in and charges the battery. Some RV's have inverter + chargers.

If you have to start from scratch. I'd go with a converter if most of your camping is plugged into grid power and I'd go with an inverter/charger if most of your camping in not plugged in.

Thanks for the reply Mark. The van does have a converter. There does not appear to be a battery disconnect switch. Perhaps in 1990 when the unit was built, chargers and battery disconnect switches were not built in yet? Cheers.
