What brings Canadians to Minnesota?

There is no sales tax on clothing and grocery food.

Hi Davydd,
That's going to be very true come next year when the HST is implemented.
Even moreso if our Canuck loonie gets closer to parity with Uncle Sam's greenbacks.
I'm sure they'll react to the sudden loss in revenues by tightening the rules regarding,
and reducing the amount of stuff we can bring back for free.

My wife and I were just thinking about any big box items we might need in
the future, and to get moving and try buy them now.

On our recent tour of the northeast, we finally got to use our EDLs to cross from St. Stephen,
New Brunswick into Calais, Maine. When we got to the booth, the US CBP guard exclaimed,
"hey, they work!!" as if it woke up his little booth computer. Our van was physically searched,
and while one of the other guards opened doors in the back of the van, I asked the booth guy
why he seemed so surprised. He said we were the first through their checkpoint with the RFID
chipped driver's licenses. The other guys actually came over to see what was on their screen
while we were being searched. I should have asked if we could have a look at the display, but
we were hungry and kinda looking for a place (McD's) to stop for breakfast.

So, they work!!!
