Conversion of Ford transit

Hello!
I am thinking of converting a Ford Transit high Roof and am concerned about finding a dealer who is knowledgeable about options needed for conversion(eg heavy duty alternator, rv package, etc. We live in Illinois and was wondering if anyone can recommend a dealer who has experience in selling vans for DIY conversion? We are willing to travel to nearby states if necessary.

Having built a camper from a HR EL Transit, my best advice is to do that research before you get to the dealer.

Chances are, the options you select will be stuff specific for your needs.
For example, I went with the dual battery/HD alternator, but NOT the RV package.

At least when we ordered our van, the RV package excluded ordering power leather front seats, which is something we really wanted.


There are plenty of folks here, and on the Ford Transit forum, who can help keep you looking in the right direction.
