Default Davydd's Articulated beds

When I asked ARV if they would build beds like Davydd's they referred me to CMI (Creative Mobile Interiors). I really like what I see on their web site and they certainly have been helpful, we are working on details to put together a plan and estimate. Has anyone on this Forum had experience with CMI?

If I remember from his discussions, they had to be modified somewhat to fit the van. Not sure if ARV did those mods, or CMI did.

If you are asking if Advanced RV could build beds in your existing van they probably won't since they are backed up with their own customers for new RVs nearly a year and a half. That is probably why the referred you to CMI. CMI had nothing to do with my B. All the work was done in house by Advanced RV per my design. They have since built one more that I know of with one articulating bed like ours and a companion lazy boy type chair.

The basis of the bed was this:

Leggett and Platt Premier Series Bed

The two beds started out as twin beds which are typically 42" wide. The frames had to be cut down to accommodate 28" wide beds. There were several other modifications to make it all happen and of course custom mattresses, leather upholstery and enclosing cabinetry. This was not an easy task as you might hope. I don't see the competitors coming close to doing this anytime soon.

Davydd your right on, ARV did explain they had no time for extra projects. When I asked ARV referred me to CMI and said they would be happy to discuss the bed design. We'll see what CMI can work out. I appreciate the input and pictures and look forward to a tour of your rig, if you would be so kind.

You talkin' to me or Shacktee15?

The short answer--yes.

This was my older van, Alvar, with the articulating beds. I had it for 6 years and nearly 95,000 miles. ARV has built many since with articulating beds as they build custom for their customers and it was a popular desired concept.

I have another ARV van now--a totally custom design called Mies--"Less is more" because it is 5 feet shorter and when I picked it up I emptied our extended van and got every thing in the new. No articulating beds this time though I probably could do it manually instead of electrically and it could be future project. Bunk beds now to save floor space for other things. I wanted to try a shorter van since my previous three got progressively longer, and I am glad I did. There is more and a simple search on Mies will gather it up.

I had the L & G articulating beds installed. It turned out the supporting frame was the correct dimension and only the wider top had to re moved. I had an upholstery do the mattress and leather work and a headboard with storage as well. A talented local mechanic did the install including the electric portion. Has been in my van now for about 4 years or so and works great.

I also should note it was David's that gave me the idea. Thanks.
