Default Fiamma Awning won't close properly

My Fiamma Awning won't close properly. The forward end where the winder is sticks out an inch or so when fully retracted. The back end closes properly. I emailed Bob Snyder from Fiamma for advice after reading about a tip from him on the Bigfoot Owners forum. He says I can replace the awning fabric or try to adjust the diameter of the roller on that end using duct tape.

Duct tape trick (from Bigfoot Owners forum):

If your awning sticks out 3/4" then try 8" to 10" applied to the awning fabric on the edge of the upper right inside corner of the awning to increase the roller diameter. You'll have to experiment with the length of tape needed a bit.

I picked up some Gorilla tape to use on mine. Gorilla tape is thicker and stronger than duct tape.

It is important to note that the awning does not "lock" into place when it is closed so don't force it.

From Bob:

The awning does not "lock" into place when it is closed, the same mechanism that holds the awning open at any point is the same mechanism that holds it closed. The red tabs are just indicators to let you know it is closed all the way.
