Default Good New Roadtrek Discount..

Would 21% off msrp on a brand new old stock 2018 SS Agile ($150,000 MSRP) be good enough to buy in light of the facts.. Roadtrek being in deep trouble and this being a 2018 model, when 2020 models will be showing up soon.

Who knows if the warranty will be honored.

If 21% isn’t good enough, what would be enough?

Thanks!

When we bought our 07 C190P in Oct of 08, it was essentially two model years old, so similar situation. We got 24.7% off of sticker price.

Hey wanderingwheels...not sure where you live but this is probably as good as it gets. Not sure if they are still available but I'd give them a call.

There is a big RV show going on in Minneapolis, but they should have one salesman in the office tomorrow morning at Lake Region. Last time I looked there were two 2019 Agiles in their inventory... with a much bigger discount that you are reporting.

Great dealer... bought all 4 of my rigs from them.

Even if Roadtrek warranty has problems, the chassis and warranty for all the major components like the refrigerator, ac, etc. would still be valid.

But 21% off seems low. I’d say ask for 35%. Walk away if they say no and wait a few days for them to call you back.

Agree on both counts.

I have never found RV warranties to have much value, although if I weren't a DIY'er, I might feel differently.

If the Agile has proprietary systems (lithiums, voltstart, etc) then the warranty is very important. I'd offer 30% off, then deduct another $10,000 for the value of the warranty.

We bought a slightly used 2015 Agile when it was less than 2 years old and had only 7200 miles. Still under warranty and got 32% of list.

If you are not in a rush, wait to see what happens with the orphaned company. If the worst happens, and they disappear dealers will be giving them away to get rid of them. Also don't forget to consider resale value ...

You must have more appetite for risk than I do if you are considering this at all. If it has Ecotrek, I'd expect alot more discount, but probably would still pass. Where are you going to get parts should something break? You could really be SOL if one of those proprietary circuit boards get fried.

If the van has traditional systems (AGM batteries, etc), then go for it - still get a hefty discount of 35-40% for an orphan. Bear in mind that most folks won't touch them, so their resale value will be spit.

I agree newer Roadtrek/Hymers resale values will drop significantly. But if I owned a model that was more than 5 yrs. old (pre-Etrek), I wouldn't be too concerned. Great West vans and even old Xplorers (both long out of business) are well regarded.

No dealers are taking 30-40% off the price. They will not lose money. I see many offering 4-6 year warranties of their own design to move what they have on the lot.

I am hearing folks getting 25% or so but that eats up everything for the dealer. Not that they care for profit at this point but they will not take huge losses like I see posted here and elsewhere.

https://www.seegrinsrv.com/inventory/?keyword=ss+agile.
Check and compare to what See Grins is selling them at. We just purchased a Simplicity on Sunday and got a 2019 on a 2018 chassis for 52000.00.

The way those Agile's are equipped were going for ~$109K at the Tampa show so this is what I would expect. Not sure that MSRP is accurate FYI. I believe they are ~$10K high.

I have no idea what the market is doing--I am not paying attention. But, it is just not true that "they will not lose money". They have a sunk cost in the form of inventory. The market determines what those assets are worth, not the dealer. If the only way to move them is at a loss, that is what they will do. Otherwise, they will eventually be worth nothing.

I agree with Avanti. If the dealers are sitting on inventory that is losing value daily and paying interest on the loans for that inventory, any even semi qualified businessperson is going to get out from under it as quickly as possible to limit the losses and lower future risk. The numbers will tell them what to do very quickly, and in this case selling at a loss is likely the best way out in this turbulent market.

They may even be able to get Wells Fargo to reduce the loan paybacks to help them move the inventory, so WF doesn't have to repossess them and then take the loss later.

I agree with both of you but they will not take a 40-50K loss per unit as some folks say here and on FB.

And what, exactly, would they do instead?

And BTW: A 50% discount is not the same thing as a 50% loss.

Sure - the folks down here are purchasing warranties to try and minimize the loss. That should make these attractive to buyers to take a chance.

If you are taliking #50K actual loss and not reduction of price by that much off of retail, I would tend to agree except for any final leftovers that nobody wanted. Especially on a $150K MSRP plus Sprinter wilh huge lithium band, I think we may see them go for under $100K as the more of the cost is the potential high maintenance cost lithiums, the more allowance they are going to have to make. I think the actual mark ups are somewhere in the 25-30% range at the dealers, but I may be wrong on that as I haven't seen anything on it lately, so they are going to get in loss territory quite quickly.
