Having rented lotso mini vans for moving people and stuff, the sienna was always my last choice- narrower than the dodge and the seats and interior less comfy ( narrower thinly padded seats).

I wonder why they chose that base vehicle...

GTRV will build on just about any van chassis the customer chooses, so although this post and pics date back to 2006 they'll still build a Sienna camper if ordered. But the Sienna payload is so low that you can't legally carry much in the way of passengers and gear and stay within GVWR.

And that's why GTRV's new Metris conversions look so promising. Larger inside dimensions and about 1000 lbs more payload but still garageable.

The GTRV Metris does look very promising. Looks like the interior components are being sourced from Reimo (floor, sliding rear seat, cabinets, etc.). Link to GTRV Metris pics:

Oddly, I can get from that GTRV link to their main website... but... there is nothing on their website about the Metris, nor how to get to that page in the link. Even using their "search" you can't find it. You have to accidentally hit the 'shop' link - where the homepage photo shows an old Ford unit.

That Sienna was done way back when I was talking to them about doing a mini-van conversion. And it was about the last time this website was updated. I actually thought that they were no longer in business.
