Default Lengthy video review of my new 59G

I posted a rather long review of my new 2015 Winnebago Travato 59G. You may want to skip thru some parts that don't interest you.

Wincrasher,
I thoroughly enjoyed your video. Great job! I am very much interested in 59G now, but I like to post a few questions.
1. How did you feel the closedness at the galley area without windows?
2. Do you sleep with your partner in the van? My wife is concerned about the width of the bed.
3. I guess there is no spare tire on this van.
Thanks for any comments.

Thanks!

I'm fine with the galley. A window would be nice there (or a porthole). Often I have the side-door open, so it would probably block the view anyways. Mostly when I'm cooking inside, I set things on the big table or on a tray on the ottoman.

On occasion, I've shared the bed in the old van. Admittedly, it was alittle tight. If you like to spoon, it's not so bad. Because in the new van the bed is higher, it's also about 2" wider. The mattress is infinitely better. Beds are such a subjective thing, and everyone is different, you really need to try it to see if it suits you. I think if you are average range height and weight people, it's probably OK. If you are tall or heavy, it's probably going to be tight. The dinnette table bed is much improved - the extra cushion gives more width, and the cushions are thicker and more comfortable. Two couples on a weekend trip, as long as they weren't huge people, would probably get on fine.

There is no spare. I was going to show the inflater kit, but forgot.

One of the most thorough reviews I have ever seen. Well done. Now if you demonstrated the inflater kit you could have stretched to a full hour.

Wincrasher,
we are smaller than average, 5'7" and 5', so I think we will be fine. I think we will just need to try the bed, so that my wife will be convinced. As you said, if you open the door, the windows will be blocked anyway. As long as we have full view during driving, I guess everything will be alright. I prefer the small/lower size of Promaster. I liked the floor plan of Safari Codo, but there was no one from US bought this unit yet as far as I know. It sounds too much hassel to buy the chassis and drop it at the factory in Canada and pick it up later with the two loans, tax and registration, etc.
We will start shopping around in August. I used to have 97 Roadtrek versatile and sold it in 2003. Since then, we missed the freedom of traveling in class B. We can hardly wait. Thanks for all the useful information/video.

i cannot imagine 2 people in the 59g unless you make up the front table to a bed-which is made to do.

Thanks. I did miss a few things, but that length really stretches the limits.

Wow, your better than Dean from Leisure Travel Vans. Just a bit more thorough and honest. Thanks for the excellent video!

Yep - Great video. Question: the 59k video showed a half width full length storage bin under the passenger side bed. Does this exist under the driver side bed as well?

Thanks. Your detailed 59G tour would be very useful for anybody considering a Travato. One has to appreciate the practical layout and surprising amount of storage space. I was wondering if two people(friendly ones) could comfortably sleep on the back pull down bed. Also, could one see the tv back there if it was pulled out and can it be tilted to the back for viewing. I was surprised at 20 minutes to get hot water. I guess I am used to the water heater in ours taking about 5 minutes! I think it is an excellent vehicle especially for the money. That is the problem we all face nowadays with the escalating costs of new B vans. I am grumbling right now as my wife wants an LTV Unity!! Your helpful insights are appreciated and this is a good example

I took another look at the Fit RV video & that space appears to be filled with various bits of equipment - water pump, water & air heater, sewer hose storage, etc - with no storage space. James goes through some of that stuff starting at 15:00, and there's a very quick shot at 15:35 showing the cabinet to the left of the access panel he opens at the foot of the bed & it has several vents in it suggesting there's no open space available under the head either.

It amazes me that the RV manufacturers who are presumably in the business of selling RVs cannot make videos of such depth. I understand that the attention span of many prospective customers is relatively short so the more concise videos that they already make are good for them but leave folks like us with lots of questions. Questions that many salesman have no answers to.

Manufacturers may argue that too much honesty will hurt sales.

My problem with my videos is I just run unscripted. Often that leads to my stammering and forgetting some details I wanted to cover. In this video, I didn't even mention the van was front wheel drive! Also, my camera only records 10 minute segments, so sometimes I am just yammering on and the camera has already stopped, so I have to backtrack. Oh well, it is what it is.

I still do not understand why the bikes are way high up in the air like that. I don't get it.

I'm interested in the K personally.

It aids parking better. Remember this is an Italian supplied item. You can still parallel park the van in a normal space with the bike on the rack. As a side benefit, you could still have a storage box or tow a trailer with the bike on the rack.

It helps parking in tight spots as wincrasher said, but it is also related to european regulations regarding carrying external storage. The license plate has to be visible at all angles. They even require to attach huge red striped plate to the bikes to warn approaching vehicles that you are carrying external storage.
