Default Living with unexpected cold spell

We are caught away from home in our class B van. It wll get into the low 20's tonight for about 12 hours and again tomorrow for about 16 hours. We will be connected to shore power for electric heat in the unit. The hot water tank is bypassed. I am not sure where various lines run, but the manual says the unit is designed for three season camping and can withstand winter temperatures, but it does not say how cold . It is an older unit, so factory information is not available.

With this being our first time in freezing weather, I am obviously concerned. Should I empty the fresh water tank which is outside but has blown on foam insulation? Should I take any other precautions? Advice is being seeked! Thanks!

.

What is your RV?

Water is at its highest volume during freezing. (that's what's causing damage)

Once the water is frozen, the volume will decrease if the temp drops further.

The vulnerable parts are not the water tank,
but the pipes and joints.

But empty the tanks anyway.

Turn off your water pump and open the faucets. You don't want any pressure in the pipes.

Pour anti-freeze into your toilet, shower pan, sink. You don't want any trapped water to freeze on you.

Open the cabinet doors, so that warm air can circulate into the under cabins.

Good luck.

Thanks for the suggestions. The RV is a 2002 Leisure Travel Freedom 4M built on a Dodge 3500 chassis. We love it but are getting some kinks worked out.
