Question Looking to purchase Roadtrek RV

I am considering purchasing a 1990 Roadtrek Versatile. Apparently it has been owned by two owners. The present owner lives quite far from me but the vehicle has low klms, 59,000, photos of interior and exterior show no rust and owner says it doesn't burn a drop of oil. One problem is the refrigerator isn't working. he's asking $8700 cdn. It's inspected and he has offered to take it to a mechanic to verify status . Does this sound like a good investment for a RV for summer use on the east coast of Canada ? ( short hauls ) What other things should I be asking him about the vehicle ? I'm new to RV's so any advice much appreciated.

Get an independent mechanic's appraisal of the vehicle.

Price is great, mileage is low. JUMP ON THAT DEAL

Check for water damage. Use your nose more than your eyes.

You are told the refrigerator isn't working, but is it could be a minor fix. If the refrigerator is shot, you can pick up another model pretty reasonable. The price for is good. Ron

I'm 2000 kms away so can't check the details on smell etc but the owner says there are no leaks anywhere.

if i get a mechanic to verify , what items ? motor compression ? oil leaks ? frame ? brakes , tires , anything else ? it is inspected apparently so i'm guessing most of the safety and basic items are ok.

With such low mileage, I would think checking compression on each jug is not necessary. Most mechanical shops have a SPECIFIC SERVICE called "Used vehicle check". I used an independent mechanic when I bought mine, and he charged me $99. for a 90 point inspection and printout.

check this for an example:
Checklist for Inspecting Used Cars | DMV.org

do more homework. As i have said, it is rare to get a rig with such low mileage.
