Default Low Profile air conditioner on 87 Roadtrek

I recently purchased a 87 Roadtrek without air cond. I was wondering if anyone had installed an a/c in the spot that the overhead fan is located now. I see where one person had replaced the original Fedders with another brand and had done some mods to make it happen, but in my case, this unit was never set up for a/c. I don't want to cut into the back of the van for venting and lose the storage space.

I will appreciate any input the I may receive.

Thanks

I don't recall ever reading about someone doing that.

I suggest sending an email to Roadtrek engineering asking them if the roof can support the weight. Roadtrek is usually very good about offering information about their older models.

In my RV, I use the fan more than the air conditioner so I would not like to give it up.
