Default New charging parameters?

Don't know if anyone is following the discussion on the Yahoo board, but it appears that Trojan is now recommending a higher voltage charge (daily charge) at the end of the bulk charge. It is all the way up to 14.8 volts, higher than bulk, but lower than equalize. Some research shows the off grid folks call it a "boost charge" and it is needed to get daily charged batteries back up all the way and mixed well to prevent sulfation and stratification. Anybody heard anything about this? it is new to me. It would render pretty much all our chargers obsolete, if it is really needed, I would think.

Don't some chargers have, if you hook up a laptop, a way of editing what voltages happen at what times, or am I absolutely deluded again?

I haven't seen that, but it sure could be out there. Most of the charger/converters have switches you can set for voltages or battery types, but I have never seen one that puts the ending voltage higher than the bulk, like they are asking for.

I read through the Trojan user manual.
I don't know if the 14.8v daily charge is for everyday (even storage days) or just days when you charge after actual battery use.
It's specified at the end of charge cycle - before going into float mode I guess........
And, I think anyone applying the 15.5v equalization charge in an RV should consider isolating the batteries during that stage. I lost some LED lights when the Magnum inverter/charger output in my Class C hit (or maybe went over) 15 volts.

AGM's seem so much easier and the voltage requirements are already covered by most newer 3 stage RV type converter/chargers or inverter/chargers.

They sure do seem simpler. If they could only get the capacity up and cost down
