Default No Grey tank or valve 89 Dodge Xplorer?

We recently purchased an 89 Dodge Xplorer Extended Van that is in really good shape inside and out. We are newbies and are ready to go on our first trip. Watched videos telling us to look for black and grey valves to dump and can only find one valve coming from the black tank. Can't see a grey tank or find another valve anywhere on either side of the van. Ran water in the sink to see if grey water dumps directly on the ground and saw no water on the ground. Is it possible our grey and black tank are combined somehow? Thanks in advance for any help.

My 1999 American Cruiser on a Dodge chassis only has one holding tank. Crawl up under your camper to confirm this is the case with yours.

.

Check the kitchen sink drain.
If it goes to the same tank as the toilet,
you have only one tank.

Single holding tanks are not uncommon (our erstwhile 2005 Airstream Interstate had one). Contrary to conventional wisdom, they are a perfectly acceptable (and IMO superior) setup.

... which leads me to believe,
the separation of black/grey tank is because of the convenience of fitting and installation,
not for anything else.

I think that there is truth to this. But in fairness, I suspect that there is also a certain amount of market resistance to single tanks, based on pure inertia. Even around here, a few members seem to work very hard to come up with arguments that two tanks are somehow better.

Having had a couple with the dual tanks, and should I be in the market and run into one with one tank...not even close to a game changer. To me it is one less problem with a valve that could freeze, etc. In reality, how many of us have ever had to drop the tanks, or had major problems...and I think it would be the same for the single tank. If I found a rig I really liked, I would go for it. Ron

My 1988 Dodge Xplorer xtra van only has one tank.
I do not know how many gallons it is. But I once pumped most of of the fresh water tank 20gal into the black holding tank and it was full right up to the toilet bowl. The water tank still had like 7 to 8 gallons left in it. So no it won't all fit. Least not in mine.
Congrats on your new camper enjoy it.

Do you have a recirculating toilet? The toilet is the holding tank. The other should be the gray water. But you should have a second valve for the toilet and a valve just below the toilet to empty it's tank. It shouldn't drain into gray. Yuck.
