Default Re: quieting onan 2800 with resonator

I think I'm going to order the resonator and figure it all out later. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if I have an oddball size pipe.

Default Re: quieting onan 2800 with resonator

Finally installed the resonator today! Cut the pipe off with sawzall and tried to put resonator on, pipe dia. is all the same wouldn't you know it. Was able to beat it on about 1/8 of an inch with a block of wood, had to do the beating with one hand as the other hand had to hold back pressure on the pipe to keep me from busting bolts on the genny. Welded on the resonator so it sticks out about an inch from the bottom of the bumper and had to install a new rubber hanger to the resonator. I decided to eliminate that original small dia. exhaust pipe that Onan uses and leave the resonator as the last piece in the exhaust system. I like the look of the resonator diameter better as I always thought the Onan was way to wimpy looking.
