Default RT 190 Versatile battery question

I recently acquired a 2004 RT 190 Versatile.

I have a question about adding an additional chassis battery to augment the existing chassis battery.

The primary battery is located in a compartment behind the rear passenger wheel. There is also an empty battery compartment located in front of the rear passenger wheel. Can an additional battery be installed in the empty compartment and just wired in parallel with the existing battery? This would seem to only require the addition of two wires connecting both batteries.
Would the installation be that simple or am I really missing something?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That is exactly what Roadtrek did when they put in the optional extra battery. If you do the conversion, you may want to also replace the original battery, unless it is quite new and you can match it exactly.
