Default RV Roof

Is it safe to be on top of the RV? I have a 2016 Travato 59k. I would like to wax the roof.

Short answer: NO. The PM roof can be easily damaged by point loads.

I would not walk on the roof even if it can carry me.
It is no fun if you slip and fall that high off the ground.

YEAH... falling off the roof .... damaging it .. everything other people said.

You want it waxed... get it done by a professional who has the proper equipment for this.

Or just skip it... since it's a Class B with a metal roof... the only reason for anyone to be up there is to find an repair a leak which is probably not likely to happen anytime soon if ever.

Unless you walk on the roof.

I can reach my solar panels using 12' straight ladder leaning against the van with some protection to protect the paint. I need to move the ladder often but it is safe. Unfortunately, solar panels need to be clean to perform well. For 3 x 100W panels it takes me about half an hour. To clean sap I used concentrated isopropyl alcohol.

I don't know about Promasters, but I'm on the roof of our T1N Sprinter all the time. I wash it but don't wax it any longer because I Bus Koted it. Once a year I dismantle the Fantastic cover for cleaning, and I also refresh the Bus Kote annually with a thin overlay.

I've never heard of anyone damaging the roof of a Sprinter by being on it, but I suppose its always possible.

You could probably do it, but you need to spread the load out over a wider area than just your feet and knees. Even at that you would want to stay close to the cross braces.
PMs have been known to dent easily up there with point loads as mentioned earlier, not to mention the fall danger....
