Default Small gas grill for a B

Hi - We are looking for a small gas grill for our 190 Roadtrek. Because of storage space, we need it to be quite small and easy to clean. Do any of you B's carry a gas grill in your camper? Thanks.

I have tried two grills. I first tried a Coleman Fold and Go. You can see it at
http://www.amazon.com/Coleman-Fold-Go-P ... old+and+go

It was pretty flimsy, blew out easily, did not heat well and was hard to clean. We purchased a case to put it in, that also held a gas canister. The shape was pretty rectangular and was pretty easy to store.

I upgraded to the Fuego Element you can see it at

http://www.amazon.com/Coleman-Fold-Go-P ... old+and+go

It is pretty solid, heats well and fast, has a cast iron grate which holds the heat well, but is pretty tough to clean. It is kind of an odd shape, so it takes up more space and is kind of hard to store.

Overall, IMHO the Fuego is better than the Coleman, but not the "perfect" grill.

Good Luck!

Hi Gordon,

Thanks for the information. I opened both sites, but they were for the same grill, so I wonder if you could resend the second one. I could also look it up, but will wait and see if you get this. Thanks.

We use one of the $20 to $30 Char-broil BBQ's for grilling.
I line the bottom with foil and make sure to cut away any foil that could block a vent and we tend to cook on foil trays on the BBQ as well to minimize cleanup.

I removed the top handle from the BBQ and added side handles to help with storage.

Thanks, Marco - I think we'll go with your suggestion of a Char Broil grill.......affordable and small enough for us.

I posted some info about it here also: http://www.classbforum.com/phpBB2/vi...php?f=10&t=323

I had a BBQ that looked similar before but it was very hard to not burn food on it.
We cook pancakes on a griddle on the portable BBQ.

You have to carry the small bottles of propane though. This type of portable BBQ won't work with the BBQ quick connects that some Roadtreks have built in.

Here is the correct link on the Fuego
http://www.amazon.com/Fuego-Element-EP0 ... uego+grill

However in researching this, I happened upon a Grill the O'grill 1000 that looks pretty interesting. It may solve the two issues that I have with the Fuego...Kind of hard to clean up and with its odd shape, it does not store efficiently.

Anyone using the O'grill have some comments?

O'Grill 1000: Read the negative reviews, and some of the points may be valid.
The Weber Q100 is the same price ($149).

You are correct about the Roadtrek propane connection not working on some grills. On our 07 they have a second regulator off the tank that is set at 15 psi, which is much higher than the several inches of pressure for the appliances, but much lower than tank pressure.

The problem seems to come with propane stoves or grills that have a flow restricter in them, which, I assume is there in case the regulator fails. Most of them I have seen are a sintered brass piece that looks solid but is porous to let the gas through. The 15 psi is not enough to push adequate gas through the restricter, so you get a tiny flame. Coleman seems to have it in all their products, our Fold-N-Go stove had one for sure. I drilled a very small hole through the restricter and now it works fine (risky, so don't blow yourself up). Don't expect any help from the manufacturers, as they will tell you that they run fine on the small bottles and after that you are on your own.

if your not completely set on gas.... there are the older colemam white gas, pump up types or another that I've got my eye on is a Kelly Kettle system, which is a double walled container that holds 1 to 2 liters of water and burns sticks/twigs/pine cones, basically any small combustable fuels sources to bring the water to a boil quickly, and also has a pot stand and small pot for cooking....

in addition I have an assortment of small propane cooktops and burners and a small mini Weeber grill.

I agree with the Coleman Fold & Go, that’s what I use and it works great.

I use this stainless grill that came with a boat I bought in 2012. It has latches that keep the lid closed when not in use. works great & can be used with any propane system via an adapter. Stainless Steel BBQ
