Default The Appreciation Thread

If we are going to have a diss thread, then we need an appreciation thread too.

In here, point out a design feature that you really like, or think moves the industry forward.

I'll start.

I think the "engine generator/2nd Alternator" is a very exciting development. The elimination of noisy generators would be appreciated by all. Whether this is a long term change, or just a stepping stone to some other solution, only time will tell. The trend though, is in the right direction.

How about an odd one.

We appreciate Marko letting all us incoherent babblers babble away about stuff on here. It is related to the appreciated class B stuff because we know that the manufacturers read these forums and will hear stuff on this one that they won't on others. I am certain some things get influenced do to that contact, probably all for the better.

I have a couple things I appreciate:

1: B vans in general. Compared to them, class Cs are just no fun when scooting around areas looking for a place to park. Similar with other methods of RVs.

2: The Transit EcoBoost models. Time for Colorado and the other places that leave the normally aspirated vehicles gasping for air.

3: Waterless drain traps. No more replacing air admittance valves, no more gray water stank.

4: Combined water heaters/furnaces that run on LP gas or electric. I appreciate the space savings.

5: Ford's five digit keypad. Quite useful.

6: Sportsmobile's ability to do very precise custom work. I mis-specced something a while back, and they were more than happy to upfit a van with a 24 volt battery system if I wanted it.

7: Winnebago's diagrams and parts online.

8: Other members here who put up with my ramblings.

I agree that the optional engine generator is a very interesting advance in electricity management in RVs.

My other important general appreciation is for the actual diversity of chassis/platforms available for van conversions, and GM hasn't annonced yet their future plans.

Espar Diesel-fired combined furnace and on-demand water heater. Best thing ever.

Espar Combi

Rear Baths

Waterless drains

Modern designs

lithium batteries

Solar ready and expandable

Dislike - ultraleather or leather

I have many wishes which are still not available, but it looks like the industry is heading in the right direction.

Class B builders do a lot of things right

I'll add Roadtrek's new dual dump (gravity / macerator) system to the list of design features that I like and think moves the industry forward.

I like that. Last time I checked, only Phoenix Cruiser offered that, and that would be quite useful.

--Combined grey/black tanks. Separate tanks are an idiotic holdover from a different era.
