Default Top Speed

Apparently, the top speed of my RT Chevy Express is 90 mph. I was just keeping pace with the traffic around me on I5 near LA and didn't realize I was going that fast.

There's a speed limiter or governor controlling the top speed. Accelerator stops until you drop back below 90 mph.

My Chevy is a Canadian model and I have the 4.10 rear axle. I don't know if US models have the same limit.

Marco, it's not a speed limiter or governor, but a limit it reaches when you've reached the limit of safety with the tires that are factory equipped.
The PCM, (powertrain control module), cuts the fuel and timing back on the engine so it won't go any faster above this limit.
You can buy computer modules that somewhat bypass the PCM and give you more power and control of your top speed etc. Plus some of them let you adjust the shift points of the transmission to better suit your own preferences.

Thanks for the info.

I didn't know what to think at first other than "Oh No"

We drove 3,500 miles this trip. The van handles great.
