Default Water pump issue

We turned on the water pump our last day on the road this spring and it kept running. Didn't shut off so I turned it off after half a minute. Wondering where the water was going, I walked outside and found a puddle of water under the RV. I had hubby turn the pump back on while I looked underneath. The water seems to be coming from the frost valve drain, or right next to it. So the pump is pumping the water from the fresh water tank out onto the ground. We were not connected to city water but were stopped at a rest area.

Any ideas of what's going on?

What is a "frost valve drain"? Are you talking about the drain on the fresh water tank?

It's a valve under the driver side back bench seat. If the temperature drops into the mid to low-30's, it will open, draining the water from the heater and water lines to prevent freezing damage.

That is a new one to me. Anyone have a link to such a device? Electronic,
thermo mechanical? I have looked and haven't found one yet.

A frost plug is typically purely mechanical. Designed to fail when water creates pressure from expansion at temperature.

What type of water heater is in your van? Maybe not a standard Suburban but an Alde with a frost control valve??

A description from good ole Campskunk...

Yes, it's an Alde. The article you posted the link to describes it perfectly.

The water appears to be draining from the location of the frost valve drain. But I'll check the outside shower tomorrow just to be sure. Thanks.

.

In that case, it is most likely that one of your pipe connections has slipped.

We made an appointment to take it to a RoadTrek dealer about 65 miles away (the closest) because the spaces are too tight for us to get into. We're hoping this dealer knows what he's doing.
