Default Wfco 55amp power convert for shore power

Hello,

When I purchased my van, there was a 55amp wfco power converter that came with it. Can I rewire this to use as a charging device for shore power? I want to connect it to my auxiliary battery so I can charge it while I am at campground. Thanks in advance!

It should already be set up as a charger.

So I gutted the whole van and the previous owner was using it as a way to plug in his electronics to the inverter and use that. Everything in the van was hooked up through the converter. Now that I have rebuilt the van, I wanted to reuse that converter as a charger for shore power at the campgrounds. So your saying that will work if I connect it to the battery and plug it into the outlets at the site?

If you could give the model number, hopefully, we can look it up and find out what exactly it has for capabilities.

It’s a Wfco 55 amp WF-9855 converter. I have a 200amp 12volt renogy battery that It would be charging. Thank you!

It is a 3 stage charger done similarly to a Progressive Dynamics. 5 hours or until 5 amps at 14.4v then 44 hours at 13.6v and then float at 13.2v. Depending on battery bank size, it could be OK or not so OK a charger, I think. No temperature compensation, which is too bad. There are worse out there for sure, and some better. A battery monitor will tell you quickly how well it is doing, and IMO every system should have a monitor on it if possible.
