Advice for Newbie?

Hi,


I put a deposit down on a 1998 Rialta. It's the one with the Full time double bed. Has only 19,300 miles. One owner: an elderly couple. Exceptionally clean. Asking price is $23,500. Has brand new tires.



Questions:


1. How is this price? I'm in northern California, if that makes a difference.


2. The Carfax says it's a 1997, but the owner insists it's a 1998. He said something about it is a 98 that was sold in 97. The VIN number is WV3AH8707VH144538. Can anyone confirm the year for me?


3. The brakes squeak when applied. Owner says it is because it hasn't been driven much lately. Does this sound true? Why would a vehicle with such low miles have worn out brakes?

Also in Northern California -- we paid WaYYY too much for our 1998 Rialta (with a 1997 VW Eurovan engine). The national guide for 1998 Rialta's lists the top price at around 13K, so you could probably negotiate down. I don't trust the squeaky brake thing. If brakes squeek, would definitely have them checked out before buying. We took one trip so far and got 18 mpg, which I thought was good. Good luck --
