Default Generator info

Have a 1997 Rialta and am the third owner. Have had for four years and never used the

generator. Somewhere along the line the instruction manual for it was misplaced. I want

to be sure it works properly but don't wish to do anyrthing that will be harmful.

Doies anyone know how I can get the proper starting/running instructions for it?

The generator should be a Generac NP-30g. You can get a PDF fiile online if you go to Google and type in: Generac NP-30g. Hopefully it will work for you. I can tell you the procedures briefly here: Make sure the toggle switch on the generator is turned to OFF (it looks like a typical light switch in a house but should be brown or black). This will isolate the generator from the coach until things are running. Hold the Prime button down for a few seconds. (If it has been 4 years - check the oil level to be sure it is correct - better yet - change it first). Prime a time or two and "carefully" hold the start button down. The unit may jump or shake so I say "hold the Start button down good and solid and don't get startled". If it cranks but does NOT start don't crank for more than about 10 or so cranks. Wait a few seconds, try again. Still no start, try the Prime one more time, then the Start button. If nothing, wait awhile. If it does start!! Let the unit warm up a good 5 minutes before doing anything. Make sure all the appliances and AC are OFF inside the coach. Also, make sure the shore power is plugged into the socket in the back storage area. After the 5 minutes is up, flip the toggle switch to ON at the generator. You can try the AC or the Water Heater switch or the fridge and the generator should sound like it is speeding up a bit. Just do one of these at a time until you are certain the thing is running good again. The gen. should be fired up at least every two weeks and run a min. of 30 minutes under load. Don't run it unloaded for long periods other than warm up and cool down. Turn appliances off a few minutes prior to shutdown then hold the generator OFF button down until it comes to a complete stop. Hope this helps!
