Default roof a/c.

Haven't camped in my Rialta yet, but the roof a/c, and the microwave will not work when the engines running or on battery power alone. Do they need to be connected to a land line to work ?

The roof A/C and Microwave draw a lot of current. You can use the generator or outside 110v power to operate them.

We are about to buy a 1995 Rialta. The person who owns it has been sick so the son in-law is selling it for his mother in-law. He knows nothing about this motorhome. We could not figure out how to turn on the roof top a/c. I did call a local RV service, they told me there is a plug in that you plug into a silver box. We did that and we also had the generator going, the air would not start. Is there anything else we need to do besides plugging into the silver box and have the generator running? Any buttons to push?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Perhaps the thermostat is not calling for cooling, either because it is set too high, is set on "heat", or has a malfunction such as a short.
