Nice, I lke the adjustability for reading!

I just updated all the lights in my van to LED last night, the incandecents got super hot which might be good for ski camping, but not in the summer.

I've been sitting on a stash of LED fixtures for a year or so. They are rectangular, with 3 round adjustable heads holding 4 LEDs each. 6 AAA batteries power each fixture, but they are wired internally so that the voltage to each head is 4.5V. I'm thinking of using a 4.5VDC power supply at a convenient wall outlet so that each supply runs 2 of these fixtures and thereby doing away with the batteries. I'm thinking that would allow the use of 0.5 amp supplies, which should be available at $5 or so. It's either that or drop the 12V supply to the existing reading lights down to 4.5V with a voltage regulator. Any thoughts?
