Default Pleasureway Seat belt installation

Has any installed lap belt in the middle of the backbench in a 2019 PW Sprinter Ascent?

Since it is nice to use it as a daily driver, our family consists of 5 member and there is only 2 seat belts at the rear. Other manufacturers have lapbelts in the middle of the back bench in a sprinter.

My Airstream Interstate has three belts on the rear forward facing bench/lounge seat. For the middle belt they just added a second belt mount to the inner bolts for the two outer seat belts. Should be easy to add a third belt you want. Something like this should work...

Adding a third mount may not be that easy. I guess some drilling involved. I may have to look for an installer.

You'll be rolling the dice on safety, but only if the rear seat and existing mounts are somehow weaker that other rear Sprinter seats of that year, or the additional passenger weight leads you to exceed your units' GVWR.

To me, the main question would be "Did PW omit the rear center belts due to a safety issue regarding the capacity of the Ascent rear bench?", in which your plan is a no-go. Or "Did PW omit center belts to help ensure cargo and passenger weights did not exceed GVWR?", in which case you'd need to account for the additional weight when loading with passengers and cargo.

My Great West Legend had a middle lap belt on the back sofa but not a three-point shoulder harness. I once strapped in a child seat with the lap belt and the child seat had the shoulder harnesses and built in lap belt. I had to secure it at the top with a steel cable over the back of the seat that attached to the seat belt bolts at the floor. That was just one trip we took with our infant grandson. He is not an infant now. Our son and two grandsons road in the back of our van from La Crosse, WI to Washington DC and back. Do you know how bad the bouncing is without air suspension? That cured them from asking again.

Yes, It is bouncy without suspension upgrade. I find installing Summo Springs made a big difference in the Sprinter.

I added two seat belts to my LTV Wonder - I drilled through the floor and into a steel side support under the coach for security- make sure you don't drill the vans main frame.

You'll find that many RV manufactures of B and B+ models do not provide seat belts since it lowers the RV's available weight for luggage. If a van has belts for two extra occupants, that reduces the carry weight by 500-600 pounds. You'll also find most vans are built very close to their maximum gross weight.

You are right to monitor cargo carrying capacity. I will be driving around kids who are no more than 100 lbs each.

Because there are obstructions in the seat belt location, I prefer to go to a accessibility specialist to install it.

Absolutely play it safe - You might also try calling the factory to see if they have any documents regarding additional passengers.
