Re: Cargo Box
There's probably a reason that most commercial racks carry their loads horizontally rather than vertically. With all that jewelry hanging on the back, I'd be worried every time I hit a bump. In the...

Re: Heavy Duty Extension Cord versus Power Cord
Don't forget your 25' cord is plugged into a house receptacle that is itself some distance from your 20 amp breaker. It's the total run that determines the voltage drop over any length of wire;...

Re: Bedding?
Since we mostly are in warm weather country, we ditched sleeping bags in favor of home-made 'sleep sacks' made from cotton sheets. A self-inflating thin foam pad fits inside a sleeve made from one...

Re: 12 volt accessory outlets
I've given some thought to planting a 7805 voltage regulator (https://www.fairchildsemi.com/ds/LM/LM7805.pdf) in each of my 5V LED stick-up lights. 12V in, 5V out - at 1 amp, that should be plenty...

Re: 12 volt accessory outlets
I've used one of these 12V multi plugs (https://www.amazon.com/Wagan-4-Way-Automotive-Socket-Extender/dp/B0009JB7GI/ref=pd_sxp_grid_pt_0_2) for a couple of years without too much difficulty. I also...

Re: And now its the front tires
RoadTrek had a fun reply to my inquiry: You get whatever tires come on the Sprinters they get. Effectively, "don't call us, call Sprinter." Continental doesn't have any sympathy if you don't...

Re: And now its the front tires
Thanks, consolation is better than nothing.
The DOT shows the tires are indeed from '07, not surprising on an '08 RV. I mis-stated the mileage, which is actually 19500; still a disappointing tire...

And now its the front tires
I went out tonight to check tire pressures prior to starting the trip home on Sunday. I noticed 'flakes' of rubber on the outer tread coming loose -- I was able to pull off a piece about 1/2" long...

Re: Those silly side windows
Yeah, maybe it's apples and pineapples. Where the GC is sharply eroded, desert-stark and monumentally vivid (or so I've seen in photos), the PA gc is softly rounded, lushly treed and subtly green...

yep, I've seen that particular canyon, but not the other one. Nor Gaspe. Planned a Nova Scotia trip once (although not from Texas), but didnt get that far. Maybe next year.

My problem with marina camping tends to be ... too many boats.
I travel with an inflatable kayak and look for lakeside campgrounds whenever possible. I get a lot of funny looks from power boaters...

Thanks for the advice, Mike! I hadn't thought of caulk, as I didn't want the solution to become yet another problem :) . As for duct tape being redneck, I am heading south so I can probably bust...

Re: Difficulty of adding a multimeter gauge?
Recall that an ammeter is a series device (inline with one battery terminal) and a voltmeter is a parallel device (across both battery terminals). Most ammeters have built-in fuses; you'll need one...

Those silly side windows
I've always had trouble with those flappy little side windows: first the plastic knob strips, then the replacement knobs have too long a shank. Then the molding that is supposed to hold the glass...

Re: Sliding cargo box with bike rack
Amcruiser's narrow single door suggests a design like the slide out hitch rack at letsgoaero.com. This is just a mount that pulls away from the back, although I'd be careful about too much load when...

Worst thing to say to a Class B'er
So I pull the RoadTrek into a KOA (first time ever! - conveniently located near a friend's house) last night. While I'm hooking up, a guy walking his dog stops, looks at it and asks (I kid you not),...

You can also look at https://www.rvdumps.com/dumpstations/ for dump stations in the US (although 'RV dumps' could describe some campgrounds I've been in).

Re: Sliding cargo box with bike rack
Nice work! The sliding box by Let's Go Aero sure costs a bit more than yours!
I used a Plano XXL on a StowAway rack and found the top to be a bit soft (hint - don't sit or stand on it). I...
