Re: New Roadtrek RS E-Trek

It is very possible that is exactly how they want you to look at it. If it can be interpreted in several ways, they can't be held to any of them.

Re: New Roadtrek RS E-Trek

I think they are trying to indicate that all the sources can contribute at the same time to the charging of the batteries, which is technically true I think, when the batteries are mostly discharged...

Re: New Roadtrek RS E-Trek

IIRC, an etrek owner mentioned that on his, they replaced the original two Progressive Dynamics chargers with a single on from someone else, when he had work done on it. Don't remember details,...

Re: New Roadtrek RS E-Trek

It can be made so that just about any source can lock out others. If I care to, I can have the output from the solar isolate the batteries and at the same time keep the engine alternator from...

Re: New Roadtrek RS E-Trek

I agree with Marko, you have a good understanding of what is going on, and that with kind of usages you are talking about, you would need a tour bus to come close to having enough space for solar...

Re: New Roadtrek RS E-Trek

I looked around and he had that Roadtrek for sale a bunch of places over last couple months. Started out asking $137K. In a lot of the other ads he said he wasn't a dealer, so the question is how...

Re: New Roadtrek RS E-Trek

There is an e-trek on ebay with no reserve and a fairly low buy it now. I do wonder how well they are really selling. Maybe it is the CS cutting into the sales, as that just seems to me to be a...

This is from earlier in this discussion

https://www.classbforum.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=2345&hilit=diesel+high+idle&start=55#p12777

It is for Sprinters, other brands may be different. To be...

Re: New Roadtrek RS E-Trek

I agree that is a shame to add propane to the e-trek, but IMO, it would be either that or a diesel generator, or no air conditioning when not plugged in. I looked at Earthroamer, and their air...

Re: New Roadtrek RS E-Trek

Good point that Marko makes about the need to run the engine generator in an e-trek. As he says, with all the batteries they have, and the solar, you would be good for a long time on just the...

Re: New Roadtrek RS E-Trek

Have you read the information here on Mercedes not wanting the Sprinters to idle for long periods of time, even with high idle? There does seem to be a valid question as to if you should or not,...

Re: New Roadtrek RS E-Trek

I guess I have to kind of agree, as we all know that the variables are huge, and folks don't understand how it works, or doesn't. (there is a person on the Yahoo board right now who runs the inverter...

Re: New Roadtrek RS E-Trek

I was just looking at the Roadtrek site to look at the CS floorplan for someone, and noticed they have changed the etrek FAQ again. This time they totally eliminated the details about how long the...

Re: New Roadtrek RS E-Trek

I agree completely. I hadn't been to the site for a while and poked around a little while I was there. It appears that the "e-trek" is starting to be referred to as a "package" in a lot of places. ...

Re: New Roadtrek RS E-Trek

I finally got around to reading all the link Marko put up to the Roadtrek FAQ section on the e-trek.

I particularly like the last paragraph:

It sounds like they have learned their lesson when...

Re: New Roadtrek RS E-Trek

Very interesting Marko!

So the 9 hours of running with the compressor on has turned into 6 hours or less of compressor on time, as long as nothing else is running.

The recharge your batteries...

Re: New Roadtrek RS E-Trek

Re: New Roadtrek RS E-Trek

I really like the specifications page, where the e-trek is rated at 6 volts and the others at 12 volts. Noooobody would ever get confused by that, would they, since they both say total amp hours and...

Re: New Roadtrek RS E-Trek

As said, a lot of good could come out of the e-trek adventure, if Roadtrek is able to figure out what does work well, and what folks really want in a class B.

Marco is right that there is not...

Re: New Roadtrek RS E-Trek

As was mentioned, it is the rapid charging that may have backed them in a corner. The way they worded the statements was technically true, but severely deceptive.

Claim one is that you can run...

Re: New Roadtrek RS E-Trek

I guess those guys would qualify as some of Jim Hammill's "armchair engineers" that aren't smart enough to know how 12 volt systems work  Of course many of us fit that category, too. They...

Re: New Roadtrek RS E-Trek

I talked to Dale yesterday. The E-trek is indeed sold and pending on working out the details of a trade in.

I picked up a 4-page brochure on the E-trek. The air-conditioning on batteries is...
