It is pretty cool to see an entire RV market jump by that much.

I wonder what is going to happen now that Hymer Sonne models are hitting Camping World lots. I know the CW near me in New Braunfels is selling them...

They are asking 97k for this. I don't know if this is something to compete with the Travato, or a half-hearted attempt to have a "budget" model, with options that come standard on the Travato. MSRP...

I wonder if part of the reason sales are down is that more players are entering the "B" market. Hymer especially, as well as Forest River (with the Coachmen Galleria), as well as some regional makes...

I think you are right there. If the next round of RV shows don't come up with anything, the Transit probably has fallen into the "neither fish nor fowl" category, because the PM excels on price,...

I think we will see a few distinct tiers of "B"s, as we do with other RV types. There will be the Chevies, the Cadillacs, and the Rolls Royces. Each tier will be pretty much independant, and...

Re: Class B Market Share, Sales and Shipments

That sort of makes sense now. I don't see many Interstates, but a B+ Citation likely sells more models. It would be a nice thing to see sales by models, as opposed to arbitrary types that RV makers...

Re: Class B Market Share, Sales and Shipments

There is a happy medium somewhere. Maybe something like the Ford Nugget?

Re: Class B Market Share, Sales and Shipments

My guess it might be the same people that are buying all the Thor "B" products? I finally saw a black Airstream Interstate in the wild... it was parked across the street from the Hilton hotel in...

Re: Class B Market Share, Sales and Shipments

I wonder what size "C" is selling so well? It also shows that "A"s are a pretty solid market.

Re: Class B Market Share, Sales and Shipments

I am curious that within the class C market, how well the small "C"s are doing. Ones like Great West/EEE models as well as the PW Pursuit, not to mention Winnebago's Trend once it hits the dealer...

Re: Class B Market Share, Sales and Shipments

You hit the nail on the head. At an RV show, one dealer had an AS model and a PW model right by each other. Yes, the AS veneers and attention to detail was outstanding, but forgoing highly polished...

Re: Class B Market Share, Sales and Shipments

I was told on the FB group that they still do so. I cannot attest to the poster's veracity though.

Re: Class B Market Share, Sales and Shipments

I would agree on the "Kleenex/Zipper/Xerox" school of marketing. I have read on the RT FB group (there are multiple, but there is one official group) that they are looking into a Transit based...

Re: Class B Market Share, Sales and Shipments

Maybe I'm blind, or just not seeing them, but other than the local Airstream dealership, I have yet to definitely remember seeing a single Airstream Interstate "in the wild". I've seen Roadtreks...

Re: Class B Market Share, Sales and Shipments

I've wondered why class "B" makers don't try to engineer "annex" tents like their European counterparts. In Europe, instead of slide-outs, they have complete annex rooms which are fairly easy to set...

Re: Class B Market Share, Sales and Shipments

I definitely agree with your theories. Mainly because what I see selling are rigs that tend to be more for leaving in one spot as opposed to touring.

I was thinking that smaller rigs, like 20-22...

Re: Class B Market Share, Sales and Shipments

The boom in trailers and fifth wheels might explain that. I do know that it is very hard to find a seasonal spot around Austin closer than 30-50 miles.

At renaissance faires, there is an entire...

Re: Class B Market Share, Sales and Shipments

I wonder if part of it is because "B" makers make their money on price, not volume. As per a Youtube video, Pleasure-Way only makes two rigs a day, so just going by 50 weeks a year, they can make...

Re: Class B Market Share, Sales and Shipments

You might be right. The litmus test will be Winnebago's offering. It might be that 2008 destroyed the "B" as a replacement for a minivan or other soccer mom vehicle. What survived the RV crash are...

I read that Dodge was starting making ProMasters this month, but so far, I've yet to hear about any in existence. Once they start actually shipping, it will be a few months after that before we see...

Re: Class B Market Share, Sales and Shipments

I'm reading on other forums like RV.net and other places about a good number of people taking delivery on ERAs. So, Winnebago is doing something right. I -think- the reason Winnebago is falling...

Re: Class B Market Share, Sales and Shipments

I think I posted this before, but three things killed the "B" market. Before 2008, gas was relatively cheap. So people went with larger Cs, As, and trailers that could be towed with a Suburban. Bs...

Re: Class B Market Share, Sales and Shipments

Hopefully that will change soon. When I was at the RV show last February, at the Airstream "B" booth, there was an "oooh... ugh!" moment with virtually all passers by. The "oooh" moment where...

Re: Class B Market Share, Sales and Shipments

I rarely see "B"s. If I do, they are usually Chevy van Roadtreks, or perhaps an occassional 4x4 from Sportsmobile (one SMB factory is about four miles from where I live.) Other than the dealer...
