As far as I know, Sprinters do not use a proximity remote. The only thing in this vein is the NFC/transponder used when the key is near the steering column.

Assuming there is a usable power lead, and it isn't part of the CAN, I wonder about putting a switch on the fuel pump power. The advantage of doing this is that the thief might move the vehicle, but...

With modern CPUs all having AES built into the chip's instruction set, the encryption/decryption is done before the I/O disk buffer even fills up. With SSDs, they do the encryption on the disk...
