I'm skeptical that it would have surge suppression. Because the MOVs that are used for this purpose are sacrificial, it is not common to include them in an expensive piece of equipment. Outback sells...

That sounds like it is referring to basic over-current protection (what a fuse or circuit breaker does). Perhaps the unit has built-in breakers? Usually they are external.
