Re: Travato Battery Project

Thanks for the tips. Other's have beaten you to the punch on that. Looking at the video after I posted it, I came to the same conclusions and will address it when I install the EC-30W.

Re: Travato Battery Project

I think they would argue that one battery is enough in the 59G. They put a second one in the 59K because of the 12v compressor fridge.. On that van, they put the second battery on the opposite side...

Re: Travato Battery Project

The generator is 6" off the ground. The batteries are around 9".

Re: Travato Battery Project

Well, I got my 2nd battery installed. It was really tough getting it to fit in there. The space is tight up against the anti-sway bar.

I ended up having a 1/2" gap between the battery and the...

Re: Travato Battery Project

Well, the project has begun!

Step one was to build some ramps to give me some working room. I got some 2 x 10"s and had Lowes cut them up for me. 5', 3' & 2' lengths. Nailed together. Works...

Re: Travato Battery Project

Well, I ordered my battery - should have it Friday. I ordered another NAPA Commercial grade AGM battery identical to the one I already have.

I bought some galvanized angle material, flat bar and...

Re: Travato Battery Project

It looks plug and play. Solves my problem of starting from the driver's seat. But the other features are intriguing - auto start on high temp and low battery. Also the lockout for "quiet times" so...

Re: Travato Battery Project

Yes, I agree. With all the LED in the new coach, as well as the TV and stereo, there is not really much draw over 2 days. It's running the furnace blower that would be an issue. Overnite is OK,...

Re: Travato Battery Project

Well, after poking around under the van yesterday, I've basically come to the conclusion that I just do not have room to add more than one additional Group 31, without some serious modifications. I...

Re: Travato Battery Project

after a bit more reading, I've found some info on adding a12v element to my water heater. Also, I've found there is a marine type water heater similar to my 4 gallon Atwood that is 12v. My old...

Re: Travato Battery Project

Thankfully I have an assortment of heavy gauge wire in the shop - got some lengths of 0, 2 and 4 guage wire. I think an inverter could live under that bench seat next to the water heater. That...

Re: Travato Battery Project

You bring up some good points. Sizing the bank for the intended usage is an important step.

Fast charging would not really be a driver for me, I would think, so if the alternator would be...

Re: Travato Battery Project

I do see that PD does offer a lithium specific charger/converter - the info is on their website. It may just be a drop in replacement. Not something I'm keen to do, but it is interesting reading.

Travato Battery Project

Right now I'm researching ways to add battery capacity to my new Travato. At this point, I'm only wanting more battery capacity. Inverters and solar may be other projects down the road. I want to...
