The clock on my microwave doesn't blink. It just shows a couple little points of light... not even an 0:00. Not sure if RT puts the same microwave in all units, but I know that they use it in most.

My 170 is my only vehicle. It sits in the driveway in front of my garage door. But the advantage of that is the solar keeps the batteries constantly topped up... and I don't have that worry...
