Booster,
Those are good points. I always did final tightening at ride height, for those reasons.
I knew the harder materials would transfer more road noise into the cabin, but I did not consider...

No wear issues from the suspension lift.
With the extra RV weight in the front suspension, I think we are getting more wear on the lower control arm bushings. I am thinking about installing...

Thanks Mat,
I just came across WeldTec, when I was looking for custom lower arms, to see if there is a way to use custom coil-overs in the front suspension. They had built a complete suspension...

Here is another supplier of a 3" spindle lift. This one is welded chro-moly steel, instead of the cast ones from Boulder Off Road, that I have. They are expensive, and they won't solve any of the...

Booster,
Wow, that is a bit ugly!

Way back, when I first started messing with the springs, I acquired a set of aluminum spring spacers. I believe they are 1" thick. This may lift the front...

The only difference from 2012 is the use of Tuff Truck modified (set down) 1618 springs. Honestly, I don't know if TT makes any springs the same as these TTC-1618-Mod or the old TTC-1617's. I think...

My 3" lift spindles came from Boulder Off Road. They look like the ones in their photo, using 4 bolts to retain the bearing unit (you can see the square, 4 bolt pattern on the spindle). This would...

Fenix,
Sorry for the delay, it has been a while since I had time to check in here.
I removed my front sway bar, and added a rear sway bar. The front sway bar made the ride very harsh, on rough...

Re: Photog's Lifted Suspension 2009 Roadtrek 190V

Also, did you do anything to lift the rear, matching the 2" front lift?

Re: Photog's Lifted Suspension 2009 Roadtrek 190V

Hello Everyone,
Sorry for the silence. We have been very busy this summer; but not as much camping as I would like.

There have been questions about how the longer/lighter springs have been...

Re: Photog's Lifted Suspension 2009 Roadtrek 190V

Booster, That is a nice bit of writing.

I will attempt to measure the spring gaps, and remaining up-travel, to see if the springs might go solid.

The times when it feels like the shocks are...

Re: Photog's Lifted Suspension 2009 Roadtrek 190V

The OTC compressor did the job. It was a bit tedious.
I went in from the balljoint side, but, if I were to do it again, I would definitely drop the pivots and come in from that side. Doing that...

Re: Photog's Lifted Suspension 2009 Roadtrek 190V

Here is a minor update on our front coil springs.

In July, Otto-Max sent me another (shorter) set of prototype springs. With these installed, we had a 2" lift, after they settled in. We have had...

Re: Photog's Lifted Suspension 2009 Roadtrek 190V

AZ-ADV,
Are the heavier upper arms an aftermarket part or a GM Factory part? Was the mechanic looking for more clearance between the springs and upper control arm?

Re: Photog's Lifted Suspension 2009 Roadtrek 190V

@ AZ-ADV
I have heard the urethane spacers break down with the weight of our RVs. I'm sure there are different quality products on the market, and you may have one of the better ones.

The...

Re: Photog's Lifted Suspension 2009 Roadtrek 190V

Did you leave the swaybar on the front?
Are you using the cast aluminum spacers from Suspension Maxx or the urethane spacers?

Re: Photog's Lifted Suspension 2009 Roadtrek 190V

Thanks for measuring the ratio. I had not measured it and was guessing. I ran numbers based on a 2:1 and a 1.5:1 ratio. I will re-run the numbers to come up with an equivelant compressed length...

Re: Photog's Lifted Suspension 2009 Roadtrek 190V

We considered the Sportsmobile, when we went looking for our Class B. At the time, Sportsmobile still had quality issues with the RV portion of their rig. The Van, suspension and 4x4 portion of the...

Re: Photog's Lifted Suspension 2009 Roadtrek 190V

That is correct. The factory length shock limits the down travel. I do have longer shocks. With these TTC-1618 springs, the factory length shocks would be fully extended, all the time. I do need...

Re: Photog's Lifted Suspension 2009 Roadtrek 190V

The spring rate in my TTC-1617 springs is 2026 lbs/in.
The spring rate in the TTC-1618 springs is 1427 lbs/in.

When I ran the numbers (before installing the 1618's) I calculated an additional...

Re: Photog's Lifted Suspension 2009 Roadtrek 190V

This weekend I will be installing a prototype set of coil springs, from TuffTruck.
The current TuffTruck springs are the same length as the factory springs, but they are much more stiff.

The...
