Default Electric scooter/E-bike

Do any of y'all have an electric scooter or an e-bike? And if so, what kind and do you like it? I'm not talking a mobility scooter but one with a seat like a gas scooter. I am also researching carriers with ramps.

Have been researching the subject for quite some time now and unless you buy something expensive, there's not much available from reputable, well-known companies.
Lithium batteries are still too expensive and a lot of sellers are, sort of 'start-ups'. Few nationwide service centers.
I think that until lithium battery cost comes down substantially, the Hondas, Suzukis, etc. will not produce them in great quantities.
That leaves me still waiting....

Love my Jetson. I've posted about it on here if you search. It was fairly cheap - less than $1500.

I'm there with y'all on the price versus what you actually get for the price. And then the whole no one works on them thing. I have been researching for about a year. Last year I ended up buying a really nice bike rack and taking my back to some shows. Worked out ok for shows with nice flat smooth pavement. The last show however had a campground that was up a couple of hills and I had left my bike at home, anyway. Grabbed rides on golf carts when I could. They charged $80/day for
a cart. Its a racket that they have going for horse people. I have been revisiting my research on the electric scooters and someone on a FB page recommended the Jetson. Its cool that it looks like a "real" scooter. My only issue with that one is finding a rack that I can put it on myself. I'm not so much a girly girl and can't handle most stuff but weight and awkwardness will be an issue. I just visited a bike shop and the guy was trying to talk me into trying a bike with the pedal assist. Sounds perfect. I could use my bike rack. BUT $3800 is a little much for me to justify when I spent so much on the ERA and my horse showing. Windcrasher, do you have a pic that you can post?

To clarify my point:
my interest is an electric scooter/moped that can do 35-40 miles/hour. I can do 15 mi/hr on my regular bike (pedal power).

The Jetson looks nice, though.

You can take the governor off the Jetson - it's simply unplugging a wire - and it will go almost 30 (stock it's limited to 21 mph). I haven't noticed any reduced range. If you want to go 40, you are going beyond the e-bike classification and will require licensing and insurance. I don't know of any e-scooter that will meet your criteria.

There are some bicycles that will go that fast - they combine pedaling and the electric drive to achieve the additional speeds. I think this is a grey area legally, but I think most LEO's would not bother you as it looks like a bicycle.

I reviewed my Jetson on my blog, just follow the link below. I also have an entry for the rack I used to carry it.

Being it's only 125 lbs, I didn't use the ramp, but just lifted it and set it on the rack. I can see though, just throwing it in the back of the van and forgoing the rack altogether.

Thanks, Wincrasher. Great review on the Jetson. I am still researching. I would like to find something that doesn't have a plastic body and something that I can use with my existing bike rack.

Good luck. Even motorcycles have plastic panels these days. Same with scooters - they'll have a metal tank, but the rest is ABS.

Yep, everything is plastic except maybe the electric bikes. But then my dilemma is that the bike rack won't work with them. It seems that I will have to get a different rack so now that doesn't sound like such a good idea, either. Wincrasher, I didn't see the post about the rack for your Jetson. Can you post a link for it? Or just a pic here?
