We've always traveled with our dogs. At present we have a 12 yr old golden retriever and a young beagle-X. Since we've been used to large trailers we're not sure how we'll deal with both of them in our B. May have to leave the older dog at home. Any others with large fur-babies??

The dog half of our cat and dog traveling duo is a 120 pound, (extra) long haired German Shepherd . . . and a BIG baby.
B's are tight enough without having to allot half the floor space for a dog.
We have thought about leaving him home, especially every morning when I have to get out of bed to take him out, every evening when I have to put on my shoes and take him out so I can go to bed, and every day when I shake the dog hair and weeds and dirt out of the towels that cover the floor. (It is even worse if it is raining).
But like his brother Curly (the cat) he is a member of the family and goes wherever we go. (I probably should say we go wherever they go because there are places we do not go because of them.)
He is a good traveler and knows the routine. While traveling he goes to the back and lays on the floor between the beds. If I get up at night and he is laying in front of the bathroom door he automatically will get up and move, albeit not without a little grumbling and a few grunts and groans.
But like I said, he is a member of the family and when he looks at me with his tail wagging and the smile on his face that says "This is Great" there is no way I could leave him home.

Thanks for your answer, Kane's papa. When we retired we sold our large home in the city and moved to a small home in the mountains. Your description of dealing with Kane is similar to our daily routine. :) Also, we'd probably feel very quilty leaving Goldie home - she loves to GO.

Yes, we take our Princess (black shepard X collie) with us. She'll guard us and cheaper then a dog kennel ($25.00 a day). And she has her own seatbelt

Yes We take "Geronimo", my 100lb American Pit Bull Terrier with us everywhere. He wears his muzzle where necessary and is never off leash even in off leash areas if there are other dogs there. I spend a large percentage of my time making sure he is secure and also giving information on this breed to the many other dog owners we meet who have heard horror stories and are terrified. I think every moment of the time i spend managing him is worth it.

Yes we travel with a rent a dog. Its a toy poodle that we borrow from our grandaughter whenever we go away. This has got to be the best dog I have ever seen and he loves to travel.

We never go anywhere without our little "Rosie". My friend calls her my FOO-FOO dog. She actually thinks she much larger than her 12 lbs.

We are hoping our furry children will adapt.....without driving us crazy. 2 cats, one very fat cat that is sedate and I'm pretty sure we'll have no problem with. The other skinney and active....our problem child.....MAY get left at Mom & Dad's house.

I tried to vote for both a Dog and another pet option, but couldn't. We also have a bird, and may possibly get a cat.

Of course I wouldn't leave my daughter home. She is very beautiful but some people think she's a Beagle/Shepherd mix

Whenever I go into a store or something I usually come back to find my Siberian Husky sitting in the drivers seat.

I keep a travel bowl back by the counter/dinette for her but she prefers to sit between the front seats.

I'll need to start belting her into the passenger side because otherwise she sometimes tries to climb over me to 'help' drive.

EDIT: re-posting this pic from another thread.

The belt harness has failed, she managed to swing herself around so that the harness was still strapped in but she was on the floor rather than the seat, and she was still trying to climb over me, but couldn't get in the way as much at least.
