Default Front seat conversion into a bed 1997 Roadtrek 170 Popular

I am giving up! I turn the front seat around 270 degrees, do the rear seat like it says, and the front seat where it meets the back seat is higher. then I read about a folding mattress that is supposed to go between the two seats??? Don't have a folding mattress, and there wouldn't be enough room for anything because the front and rear seats touch each other. What am I missing?

I don't think there was a folding mattress for your model or any models from that year. I grabbed the following from the owner manual:

We're wondering the same with our 2006 Roadtrek RS-Adventurous. How do you make the captains seats into beds? -- we have driver and passenger and, behind them, two other chairs. Really want to take a couple of our grandkids with us but can't figure out how to make them into beds for them.

If the grand kids aren't comfortable then buy the mattress option from Roadtrek. It will give them a nice flat platform and you'll soon forget about what you spent

the article link does not work. I wanted to see what the issue(s) are with sleeping in the 170. I'm particulary interested in the extra 2 that can sleep up front.

This is a 1995 190 Popular but should be the same as a 1997 170:
