The reporter said $65 for a methanol cartridge and between $4,000 and $6,000 for the EFOY unit

The 10L methanol "cartridge" is not small and it weighs 39 lbs.

You need space for the primary cartridge but where / how would you store a spare one in a Class B?

Maybe "basement" storage since you would not have an Onan generator underneath.

Any idea how long a cartridge would last assuming average "B" power consumption?

That's a great question.

I wonder what average "B" power consumption is..........
Pump, lights, fan, furnace, newer fridges, propane detector ..........

My older manual control fridge doesn't need DC to run. The wire is not even connected.

I went to the Protonix link in Davydd's 9/22 post in the New models and option string. Their propane P125B fuel cell is designed for easy retofit into an existing RV's propane and electrical system and operation is fully automatic to keep the batteries charged similar to EFOY. The brochure says it will operate 164 hours on a 20 lb tank.

On units that have propane on board, that seems to make more sense than EFOY. I suspect the availabilty of replacement EFOY methanol containers is limited meaning you need to bring what you need with you. Given their size and weight, having them shipped to your home would be quite pricey, so tht pretty much limits you to getting them thru an RV dealership that carries them which potentially could require driving some distance to restock. I think the Protonix unit seems more practical for RV's as your not locked in to a proprietary fuel source.
