Pleasure-Way top Class B brand in Canada for 2012
Quote:
SASKATOON, Sask. -- Pleasure-Way Industries announced today it is once again the top selling Class B motorhome brand in Canada for 2012. According to Statistical Surveys, Inc., Pleasure-Way dominated the Canadian market with a 46 percent market share. The Pleasure-Way Excel was also the No. 1 selling Class B model in Canada for 2012.
“We sincerely appreciate all the effort our dealer partners put forth,” said Dean Rumpel, CEO of Pleasure-Way Industries. “As new chassis products such as the Ford Transit and Chrysler ProMaster Van start to enter into market later this year, it is an exciting time to be a Class B manufacturer.”
With a dealership network of more than 60 dealers in North America, Pleasure-Way Industries is located in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. The family-owned and operated company began manufacturing Class B motorhomes in 1986. Pleasure-Way has grown into the second largest Class B Motorhome manufacturer in North America, said Rumpel.

I think I'll hang onto the Roadtrek for a while.
Might become a collector's item soon.

It is my understanding that a Rental RV dealership, believe it may be CanaDream Rental which is a Canadian RV dealer with locations across Canada for RV rentals, http://www.canadream.com. that purchases Pleasure-Way units.
Believe that is the reason why Pleasure-Way may top Class B sales in Canada, but RoadTrek is still the number 1 Class B manufacture in sales.

Re: Pleasure-Way top Class B brand in Canada for 2012
Note the mention (seemingly unrelated to celebrating the laurels of past achievements) of the new domestic chassis options coming down the pike. That may be speaking volumes about the direction PW intends to head in the future. Cut overhead, increase margin. Makes sense?
Roadtrek may (I have no info to support it, either way) be the best non-commercial seller, but one could read many reasons, both pro and con, into that stat.

Interesting that Dean mentioned both the Ford Transit and Chrysler ProMaster Van. It is an exciting time for Class B manufacturers and also us

I agree, but the prices are already skyrocketing, so what will happen when the lower price Ford and Chevy aren't around to help hold down prices?

Re: Pleasure-Way top Class B brand in Canada for 2012
Hopefully the two new vans will have a much better base price than the MB Sprinter.
The up-fitters won't have to add the fiberglass roof so that will be a savings.
The interior is more square so the build time and effort should be less.
Winnebago's $85,000 Sprinter keeps some pressure on the others too.
Fingers crossed.
I think a major reason prices are so high is because so few Class B's are made. Only 2,123 units last year. Compare that to 257,551 towable RV's (trailers, fifth wheels, tent trailers, truck campers). 3 days of towable RV production equals 1 year of Class B units produced.
