Default WTB Dodge Xplorer 228

I'm in search of a Dodge Xplorer 228. If there is anyone who knows a pre 1988 model for sale, please let me know.

Welcome to the forum!

They're out there, just keep looking or maybe someone here knows of one. But I'm curious about seeking a nearly 35 yr. old rv.

Other than price and simplicity, they can take a lot of work. Plus, even an "average" miles rv of that will most likely have substantial mileage, perhaps rust, potential reliability issues, and lack of modern safety features like air bags, anti-lock brakes, and electronic stability control.

That being said, there are many owners on this forum who swear by the Xplorer and the Dodge chassis. My parents had two Xplorers (a '78 & an '82) and loved them, although they were practically new at the time. I credit their Xplorers with my class b purchase nearly 35 years later.

I owned a 224 and a 228 at different times both with carburetors and vacuum fuel pumps. In hot weather both of them were prone to vapor lock. The Dodge 5.9L is a good engine but I would stick to years 1990 and later that offered throttle body fuel injection plus an in tank fuel pump that pretty much put vapor lock issues to rest.

Check out Los Angeles/San Diego Craigslist. I saw one for sale there a few weeks back. Don't know if its still up there but i've seen it pop up in the listings a few times. They were asking silly money for it, so it might still be around & up for negotiation. Good Luck with your search
